New to it all

I had only live rock and a few small fish in my 125 for the first three months. Was hard to not get any corals, but the live rock was actually quite interesting with many critters to look at. I still spend almost half my time looking at the rock and seeing what new thing has grown.

I know what you mean. I found the tiniest fan worm, I think, with a little bright red fan. Couldn't be 1/4" high.

To tell you the truth it is not always time as much as it is some other things. I know people that setup tanks and have some coral do great right away and others who have had tanks for years and still kill them. The thing you need to see if your tank is ready for the specific coral and some time it is a trial and error but the thing to do is to start with more common types first then move to the more expensive. Try putting a common leather in first we have more of that in the club so you should be able to get them for $10 or less if not call me. Also try gsp and some other stuff then maybe try a cap then move to some of the basic acros. If you come to the meeting this month you should be able to get some to start with.

On the other hand if your comment about plants is because you were not diligant at taking care of the plants then you may want to think about the sps as they are a lot more work then some of the soft stuff.

Basically easy corals to start with! :) There's plenty of those in people's tanks around here. Some are actually hard to kill...lol IF you killed it, then we have a problem....lol :)

Lori it is hard to wait but if you do you will be very happy! All the help you need is at your finger tips. These guys know their stuff! Welcome to the club!!!! Ill have to meet you at another meeting, will be out of town. Look forward to seeing some pics when you get to that point!
