tank update 09.22.2011
Made my first real attempt at "fragging" zoas yesterday. I experimented on an armor of the gods frag that had encrusted a whole frag plug as well as a pink candy apple cluster. I was pleased to see all the newly fragged clusters open up within a couple hours of going back into the tank.
ATS update: we're now on week three of turf scrubbing as my primary mode of filtration. It's not yet performing to my expectations, but I think it's too early to throw in the towel on the experiment. Nitrates are higher than they were with just a protein skimmer (now around 20ppm), but I've also been feeding more.
Lighting update: raised afternoon percentages by 3% each (gradual acclimation is the name of the game with LEDs). The corals seem to be responding well to the AI Sols. In fact, I'm starting to see some color on my boring brown milli and digitata (green and purple, respectively). Also, my birdsnest is visibly growing too, and looking brilliant in its purple and greenness. Now i've just got to learn to take awesome macro pictures, and I'll post them here.
