New to Nano

Had a 100G reef for about 8 years, but gave it up a few years back. Looking to get back in, but on a smaller scale and was wondering what the experts think the set up should be. I see those 24G Nano's out there, but having a built in filter makes me a bit nervous. My thought was more to go with a 20G tank with live rock and a big skimmer and call it a day. I will add a canister filter or sump in order to filter out floating materials.
Please help.
Thanks,
Greg

I have a NanoCube and took out the filter media and replaced it with filter floss to catch debris, purigen & chemi-pure for nitrate control & water polishing. That's about all there is to it.
I also do weekly water changes that don't replace what a skimmer can do but it keeps everything in check.
You can't go wrong either way, both have advantages and disadvantages. For me it came down to the look and I like the look of the nanocube over a regular tank.
