New to Octos!

I have a 45g tank that im going to trade in for a 44g corner most likely because of space issues... I would like to try an octo in there from octopets.com
Some questions would be....
What king of substrate would you use?
How much LR would you suggest?
Heavy skimming i know...
Lighting?
Debating to plum it into my 120 as well...

sand substrate, good lid, lighting doesn't matter I would'nt suggest a reef they love to move things around, and enough live rock to make a couple of caves
