New to RC!

Hey all, I'm new to RC but not to reefing, just wanted to check in!

I've run 2 SW tanks over time, and looking to get back in the game as we recently relocated to NE FL. Old tanks were both sold off for separate moves, latest was earlier this year.

Looking to land somewhere in the 6-8', 200-400 g total volume range for our new home. Looking to setup with mostly decent used equipment at this time, if anyone knows about a nice used 6-8' tank available in FL, let me know (willing to drive a bit also)!

My first setup below (sold off in 2013), Fiji live rock under T5s. Live rock is a must and I'm definitely looking to get T5s mixed back in for lighting - latest tank was run on XR15 Blues, and not going that route again.

Anyway, Hi!

Welcome! Tanks were looking great. Not too sure of many T5 suppliers nowadays without looking into horticulture supplies. I think ATI is discontinuing their T5 systems even.

Thanks! Bummer on ATI and T5s. Im still hearing about people supplementing their LEDs with T5s lately, hopefully the trend picks back up..

But there are also many hybrid fixtures out there that people use. I believe Geissman Stellar and AquaticLife made them but it looks like both may be either discontinued or in the process of being discontinued. That said, there should still be plenty of options for T5 retrofit kits out there that would likely get you where you need to be

Thanks - yea I've been seeing 'discontinued' on a number of the T5 fixtures.. Looks like there are some Giesemann Matrixx and Aquatic Life options still around though, thanks for the tip. Otherwise I'm not opposed to DIY-ing a mounting setup (T-slot frame, etc), most will depend on the size of tank we end up with. The fixture on our first tank above was something like a $120 ebay 8-bulb, ha..
