I am setting up a 180g tank that will have a 75g sump, but what I am trying to figure out, what kind of turnover rate am I wanting to have? I will be splitting the return to two different outlets. Thanks for all your help.

on my 180 i use an aquamedic ocean runner 3500 as a return pump. although this pumps 3500 liters, at a head height of 5 foot it is more like 2000-2500 liters per hour. with a total water volume of 700 liters after displacement this means 3-4x turnover. personally i think any more is a wast of time as your skimmer needs to clean the water as it passes through.
sorry to talk in metric but i hope this helps !

On my 180 I'm running a mag 12. I don't think it matters how much turnover you have as long as you have enough water going through your sump to keep up with your protein skimmer, and enough flow in the display to keep the water moving around.
