New to Reefing Near Montgomery

Hi guys, I'm converting to SW after keeping FW for a couple of years. My nephew decided to help my clean my tanks one day and after overhearing a conversation about using bleach on a yard sale tank he decided to bleach my tanks :sad1: Ah well, he got them cleaned of everything including life. :sad2:

My lovely wife is forcing me, I mean suggesting that I only use the stuff I already have so I'm doing a pico reef. I know that may not be that popular with some people but it's what I'm allowed, I mean want to do.

My little 2.5g is cycled and has a small CUC in it. I'm looking to add some small frags of zoas/palys in a few weeks. Does anyone around Montgomery have some small frags for sale? I'd rather get them from someone local than order them. I know that Aquarium Fantasies has them but what I saw is too large for my tank.

Thanks,
Will

A small cuke? That won't be the case long;).

Welcome to the hobby. I'm sure you can find most of what you are looking for in Montgomery;).

I plan on it.... my 2.5 is sitting next to an empty, clean and willing 20H with a 10g in the stand ready to be sumpified. All part of the plan, all part of the plan.

Scapes, I live in Deatsville, right up Deatsville HWY about 6 miles.

Well, how bout that! We are neighbors!! Im in mountain view phase 2. You need to drive through our neighborhood, im the house with th Aubie in the yard, can't miss it ;). But aside from that, we have tons of houses with lights. I also have 4 decent tanks and one crappy one set up. You should come by sometime.

You don't happen to have a small clump of chaeto for a small hob filter fuge? I'm also looking for a nice red display macro for my tank. Any suggestions?

I might be able to help with the algae's, if you don't mind some planaria. Flatworm exit kills them (and little else), if they are a concern. I've got a chaeto ball in need of pruning and some red leafy macro. I haven't tried sticking it to a rock yet, though, so not sure if it'll attach easily.

Julie- when I get the lights over the seahorses like I want them, I'll need to get some Caulerpa's.

Sounds great, just let me know. What method for attaching the algae? veil, rubber band, super glue or just jamming it under a rock? :p I've got a rock nicely placed for this purpose.

I was going to try rubber banding it, but not sure if that'll work. It seems to grow from a small holdfast (~1"), but ballons out to massive sheets. Maybe if held to a rock long enough, it'd develop a new holdfast?

I dunno, I've got a nice hole in the rock I plan on having the macro on, reckon just securing it in there would work? I'm open to anything :) What's the name of it and I'll google or ask around for best technique.

I got some chaeto from Dave, it had some pods so I have some funny critters to look at besides the CUC and zoa/palys.

If you get a chance take a peek at my tank in the nano-reef subforum.
