I check the stores and sometimes find what I am looking for. But am a fan of on-line shopping as well, have gotten some pretty good deals on e-bay and guess I am lucky and have had good luck with almost all the livestock I have purchased on-line from various vendors.
It is nicer to buy locally and see what you are getting in person, but as you pointed out the selection is not always their and a lot of times you go home with something they had in stock instead of what you really wanted to get. One of the downsides of living in an area that is so small and really can not support a large store that can move large volumes and varieties of livestock. UA near roanoke and PAW in lynchburg are really the only stores I get to and it can be hit or miss depending on what you are looking for.
also if looking for something in particular don't hesitate to post what you are looking for, there is a pretty good selection of stuff available from the local reefers both livestock and equipment and every once and a while group buys
By the way welcome to the area and the forum
