New to Saltwater fish!

Hey Guys! I just wanted to introduce myself, I live in the columbus area. I am looking to set up a reef aquarium, and I've never done one before however, I have been doing a ton of reading and I will continue to do so, so that I'm ready to buy a tank in the summer. I was just wondering if you guys knew the best place to buy a tank for a great price and great quality. I am not a handy guy at ALL so package deals or places that will help integrate things easier will be nice. I checked out Aquarium Adventure, Byerley's and there's also a place or number called ACCENT ON AQUARIUMS (ever hear of them?) I will definately have a lot more questions later on but I just wanted to ask that and introduce myself! I'm so glad that c-bus has its own support group with fish enthusiasts! I have dreamed ever since I was younger to own a saltwater and it never became a reality until I saw one in person at someone's apartment and realized that with a lot of planning, dedication, and hard work than it can really be done. Thanks guys!

glad you found us. You should check out a meeting. It's a great time and a good place to talk to everyone and share ideas. We also have a club website at www.corareef.org

and welcome to Reef Central

Welcome.

Byerly's helps to support the club. You might check them and see if they can give you a good deal on the tank and stuff. Ov course, if you look around and are not in a hurry, there are used tanks for sale in the area from time to time.

Phishybusiness.com is local to Columbus. He will be opening a store soon. Right now it is mail order and appointment only.

Welcome,

I think someone was selling a 75 in here within the past cpl of weeks, may want to look back a few weeks in the postings

Welcome, to the hobby. It sounds like your on the right track. Doing a bunch of reading before starting the tank. As said by szwab be sure to visit our group web site. If you look there you can usually find complete systems or parts of systems for sale at really good prices.

Welcome to the group :D

You found a good place to hang out, plenty of info within the group with a varied input from people who have sizes of systems ranging from Nano's to 600 gallons.

Plan wisely and be patient, as reef tanks require much info and knowledge to be successful.

Check out some tanks from members before you decide and the best way is for you to go to the meetings, introduce yourself and you will have fun.

Good Luck

I agree with radone, Take your time and read, read, and read some more... No need to rush, if you are looking to get results over nite then his is not the hobby for you...

Thanks for all the helpful comments guys, I am well aware of how patient you have to be, that's why I am looking ahead and planning everything I should buy/read so that I am ready when it comes to summer time.

Reef Systems Inc had 90's for a decent price (same footprint just a bit taller)

I am pretty sure he said 200.00 drilled

You've come to the right place!

You still sound like you think saltwater tanks are difficult. Once you understand what's going on and get a little experience, they're easy as pie.

I agree 110%... I have been in FW tanks for many many years and before I got into SW I was thinking it was way different and very difficult... I was wrong; I mean it is a little different but not much... I wish I would have gotten in it back years ago when I was thinking about it...
