New to saltwater good or bad critters?

Hello everyone,
This is actually my first post on here. I've been in the freshwater hobby for years but only recently started a sw tank. Done quite a bit of research got a good deal on some dry rock from a buddy and bought some live rock. Had these in my tank for a bit probably a week and a half or so while everything in the tank was running before I got the live rock for an extra week. Have a small clean up crew of 5 Astraea snails and 5 small hermits. Asked the lfs what crabs and was told they are normal hermit crabs... Hmm. I have pics I'll post here in a bit. Also believe I have some aiptasia which I've been trying to shoot with boiling water which all but two have disappeared after the hot water blasts I'll try Again soon on that to get rid of the rest. Some other interesting things on the rocks that were live are popping up. Please let me know what they are and whether they are good bad or neutral. I'll post the pics in the next post because I'm on my phone now.

As promised. Pics

As promised. Pics

As promised here are the pics.

The "normal" hermit crab as told by the LFS

one more of him in case you need another angle

Not sure if you can tell but coming out of the tiny little tubes are hairy looking things that sway in the current and I'm wondering if these are bad? What are they?

This image you can actually see the thing coming out of the tube.

one more for good measure.

this one I'm 99% certain is Aiptasia.

And lastly this is an astrea snail? Also the piece of rock under it came with this interesting looking stuff on it. Is this dead? Was it a coral? What was/is it?

Thanks again for all the help everyone. Very excited to get things moving in here but of course patience is what I'm striving for.

What pics?
I was wondering that too. Theres two entire replies that don't display for me unless I sign in. I've used plenty of forums before not sure why those don't show up unless I'm signed in...
heres the direct links to the photos if thats whats causing the problem..

Thanks for the help. not sure what happened to the other posts... I can see them when I sign in...

Do you have to post a certain amount of times before you can post links and pictures? Posted another post and can't see that one until logged in again... But the posts where I don't add links I can see.

There is an attachment that you can use on this type in box that you can upload the pictures from.

When it comes to aphtasia, just know that if your method doesn't work, i've heard a lot of good stories about peppermint shrimps, that eat aptasia if theirs an abundance of their number in a well fit tank. Also, a file fish that works wonders, you can ask your LFS if they have one thats already eating aptasia.

Posting in forums is nothing new to me, my profession is IT related it was something on RC side (probably a temporary pic/link block on new users for a certain amount of time) which seems to have gone away and now my other posts are displaying I believe.
I actually plan on getting some peppermint shrimp here soon. Still watching ammonia and nitrite levels to see when the cycle is over and they won't be lost. Interesting file fish I'll research that. Are the other things in my pictures feather dusters? Also after a bit of research I think the crabs I have are referred to as dwarf red tip hermits. Correct me if this is incorrect please!
I think I also have another anemone cropping up on another piece of rock. I'll post pictures when I can get a good angle!

Looks like majano underneath the snail.
Whatever is under the snail is hard as if it were a coral at some point... Not soft and flowing like Majano looks when I google. it. However I do think my other anemone that is growing in a hard to see spot might be majano I'll have to get that picture soon...

Sorry for bumping my own post, however this post made it to page 3 and no one has really even taken a guess at the things that I think are feather dusters? These are what I'm mainly curious about. Thanks for the help everyone! Did look through the hitchhikers posts you guys have linked and can't seem to determine if what I have is a feather duster...

They are tube worms, feather dusters both names fit. They are good for your tank and are filter feeders. If you want make them happy some plankton type foods are good.

If you want to get rid of them just crush their shells and scratch them off the rock.

I don't know what you mean by page 3, This post is number 15 and for the first 8 or so you didn't have any pictures when I came and looked.

Oh I had to dig the post from page three which is the post that I referred to it being on page 3 which would then bump it to the top of page one. I was just reviving my thread to get confirmation, from someone like you! Thanks for the help, I was thinking they were tube worms or feather dusters those were the closest things I could find to it. I actually kind of like them. Some life in the tank is nice considering its twice as large as any of my FW tanks (or any other tank I've ever had for that matter)and has no fish yet! Its ok patience is key I'll get there. I have a few crabs and snails for now been watching the cycle move along. As for the pictures yeah I think those posts weren't showing up because I created this account and then made the posts. Working now though and they started showing up on their own after a day or so. I have received a lot of help thanks everyone. I'll be posting around once I have more questions. Thanks DKUH

LOL I see, well always happy to help so anytime you need help and can't find the answers don't hesitate to ask. Also make sure you read the sticky called "setting up" there is a world of information in there.

Thanks I'll do that in my free time :). Finally getting a brown dusting all over my rocks. Wondering if copepods will eventually show up on their own or would they need to be added if say the live rock didn't have any? Also wondering if I should get a calcium test kit and magnesium and alk test kits or if for fowlr they are somewhat unnecessary. I've been using marine buffer by seachem to raise ph and buffer but was reading that isn't good to use... Lots to consider i guess and won't know until I create my own experience and methods. Recommendations?

I have those hermits. they're good, they just sift for detrius.

keep everything but the aptasia. Peppermint shrimp in groups of 3 will most likely take care of it. If not get some aptasia X by red sea. also filefish could get them but they're not reef safe.

Thanks! I got a cheap pack of syringes. I plan on injecting the bigger 2 with something like aiptasia x or lemon juice or vinegar still deciding on that and THEN adding a few of the peppermint shrimp to clean up and prevent ;)
