New to saltwater tanks, totally confused

Are there any good books out there or websites to explain everything there is to know about saltwater tanks, how to set up, parameters and equipment (sumps). I have had freshwater tanks before but I'm totally confused about all of this. I'm looking at getting the RedSea tank since I would be clueless about plumping out the tank, but I obviously need to understand the equipment.

WELCOME!

YOU HAVE COME TO THE SITE OF ALL SALTWATER SITES!!!! :ape:

What questions do you have?

As for a redsea tank the plumbing is built in the back for you. You don't have to build out a sump.

At the top of this forum are a bunch of stickies, including a getting started guide.

Good place to start.

I have never had a saltwater tank before, I'm new to this also... I read every sticky front to back. Then went and read all the stickys in every sub forum. Answered every question I had. My tank is going in next week.

Just go slow man go slow. Most people regret their decisions that were made hastily about their tanks. And anything at all no matter how stupid it may sound can be asked on here and people will answer it. There is also a search function to look through previous threads to see if people also had that question which is likely and that way you don't have to ask you can just read responses.

+1 to what everyone said....One book which is my favorite is The Conscientious Marine Aquarium book by Bob Fenner. Excellent book....My favorite by far.... Besides Reef Central for sure...LOL!

Main things to remember: just about all marine fish are agressive in too small a space.
Prioritize equipment over fish and corals until you can guarantee your water quality is steady and proper.
Nothing good happens fast on ice or in a marine tank.
