Hi,

A have different species of shrooms in my set up although forgive me, I don't know the proper names for them.

Types I have are

Green -smooth
Red -smooth
Blue-smooth
A large rock with about 6/7 large mushrooms (3 inch diameter) with small tenticles
1 large green with 'filters' not tenticles (4-5 inch diameter)

The only ones I have a problem with are red & blue smooth - they don't seem to want to extend very much. All the smooths are in relatively the same position, bottom and mild / low flow....

The larger mushrooms look fantastic so I cannot see why I have a problem.

I really must get some pics!

Out on business today so I cant reply for a few hours..... any ideas??

Thanks :)

Set up is a year old,

140 gallon tank, 2x 250 Mh, waterflow is predominately 2xpowerheads... its a reasonable flow but its not even fast let alone severe.

3, small hermies, 15 snails,

pair of percs, 4 spot wrasse, lawnmower, yellow tang, mandarin, majestic angel, copperband, scarlet hawk.

All are doing fine, pleanty of growth on other corals , water parameters are all fine, the only thing is, is there an ideal SG for shrooms, mines at 1.026, is that too high?

Also are 2x250 Mh too bright, although my shrooms are at the bottom of the tank (approx 2 feet deep) should they also be in shade?

Thanks..

I have a 29 gallon nano with two 65 watt pc's and a 150 watt halide. so i do not think the light is the problem. especially since i have shrooms right near the top of my water.

I keep my salinity right at 1.025 or so.

I've just had a thought!!

Could my Red Knobbly Starfish be the culprit? My son informed me that he was sitting on one of the red mushrooms yesterday and it has all but gone...!!

Dang, I like the starfish, but he can't go around scoffing everything, especially as he's well fed anyway.... what do you think?

The star could be a problem. I have shrooms all over in my tank and can't kill them off. There are very many in the direct blast of the 250MH and they seem to like it. I also run my SG at 1.026 so those are not your problems.
