new to sps help!!!!

got my first sps. Acro. had it about a week started bleaching at base. everything i read said i should frag out the coral to remove bleached out area. at night they have a green hue under blue actinic but i dont think the polyps are extending.

could stress keep them from polyp extension how long should it take for polyps extend

Sounds stress related. Swings in alkalinity are usually the cause of bleaching. How did you acclimate? How do you maintain alk/ca?

brs 2 part .... floated then drip acclimated .. if it is stress will it rejuvinate.. I fragged the three main pieces and cut the bleeched areas out re glued them to some live rock rubble. how long dose it take for acro to become acustome to a new tank

I fragged the colony in to 3 frags and reglued them onto live rock rubble and put each in the tank low, med and high placement al l with same flow area. to see which one dose best. how long dose it take for acros to acclimate to tank.. Aclimation floated and then dripped for about an hour:headwallblue

Starting with Acro colonies is more difficult, try starting with frags that have been grown in captivity.They will increase your chances of success.

too low of nutrients in your tank can also cause, stn

do you use GFO or carbon?

try dosing amino acids, feeding your tank more

yes i have gfo and carbon in brs reactor and dose b ionic 2 part

Some wild or maricultured acros, for some reason, just don't make it in your tank no matter what you do IME.

Is this same acro you speak of, doing fine in someone else's tank?

What kind of flow is it getting?

Should only take a day or two to become acclimated to your tank, if it's really going to IME.

+1, survival rate of wild acros simply just isn't high, could be starvation but sometimes these things just die

Is your BRS autmated to control stability though?

How long did you have it before it started STN?
How long was it in the sellers dealers tank?
How high was the coral placed in the tank?
Even if it has polyp extensions its not a sure sign
If it dosent have any polyp extensions somethings up

The Polyps never came out. Thought they might just be stressed. my Phosphates read
.25. I fragged into 3 pieces and placed one at bottom one in middle and one at top to see how that will do . been that way for about a day....still no change

All other corals are great. Frogspawn, Rbta Brain Coral Toadstool leather, starting to see signs of coraline alge growth so I do Not know?

HAD SOME gHA ISSUSES so I have been changing gfo and carbon about every 2-3 weeks alge is almost gone still have to clean glass about every 2-3 days
