Hi all,
Looking to go from my currently LPS dominated tank (welso, frogspawn, hammer, a couple chalices, plate, acans, war coral, favia and a few zoas) to having some SPS dot the top and sides of my rocks. The tank is a 55g TruVu reef ready tank w/ middle return that I drilled and added an aqueon proflex 2 sump to. I have a vortech mp40w es pump providing circulation and a Rio HF 17 return pump @ 3ft head. I'm running a 4ft long dual 30w bulb T-8 fixture w/ 1 marine-glo and 1 power-glo bulbs, giving a 14-15k look to the tank. The lights I'm running now are temporary until I can save up for LED lighting (thinking the AI Vega's). I currently only have 1 "SPS" which is a green montipora capricornus (hope I spelled that right) which is showing great polyp extension where I have it placed.
For being an LPS dominant tank I'm running it with very low nutrients. Here's my test results from last weeks maintenance day (all tested with the Red Sea Pro Test kit and my Apex):
pH: 8.16
Alk: 11
Calc: 450
Mag: 1340
Phosphate: .06
Nitrate: 0.35
I2: .03
Iron: 0
Potassium: 458
My salinity stays between 1.024 and 1.025 and temp is set with the seasonal temp control of the apex. The Iron I'm continuing to dose to get up along with my iodine.
Any help to what corals I should be looking at or care tips would be great.
