New to SPS

I am new to SPS keeping and was wondering how much light per gallon I needed to have to be able to succesfully keep SPS corals. Also, do I have to have MH or can I use a higher amount of light.

With a 55, I'd go for T5s, honestly.

WIth that narrow of a tank, MHs are just such a waste.

Please dont go with watts per gallon, thats not a good way to judge your light.

I'd do T5's or a single 250W MH.

Over 250 is SUPER overkill, until you get into very deep tanks.

A 55 is just way too long for a single 250w MH.

I think you're looking at 2x175w mh, or 4-6x54w T5.

on my 55 I have 2 250's SE 10k XM , and 2 VHO actinics I think it's about right...
