I have a 45 gallon reef ready frag tank/ rimless, 48x18x12

Overflow box with 55 gallon sump
300W titanium heater
Temp 76°
Salinity 1.024
40 lbs live rock
4 soft corals

3 fish, 1 humu trigger, 1 clown fish, 1 blue dotty

I dont have a protein skimmer and my water is a little cloudy, do I need one? How to clear up water? Tank is cycled with 10 ppm nitrate.

I only have return pump for circulation at 400 gph, I ordered 2 power heads, 500 gph each. 1 for display and 1 for sump. Should be good?

If I removed the blue dotty what fish would go well with my setup?? He hides constantly.

I would get a skimmer if I were you. To clear up water, run some carbon in a reactor or just a bag. Both have worked for me in the past. You should get the humu out of the tank, because they do get way too large and aggressive for your size of tank.

He was in a 40 gallon for the last 3 years that was 36x18, he was with these other 2 fish and corals. I bought the fish and corals from a friend. I have 3 bags of carbon in my sump and it hasnt done much for water clarity. Also have fine polishing pads in there.

Yeah the tank is 1" larger than the finished opening. Then I built the stand and used the MDF, Base, and crown moulding to give it a finished look.
