hey all, I'm new to the area and was wondering when you guys do meetings, and info about the reef society

thanks!

click my red house, I don't have too many yet - I don't think my tank looks all that great yet - so I'm holding off posting any pics.

My light needed to be replaced and now my filters in my RO/DI unit are going so I have a little algae bloom

Sweet blue carpet if that thing split you cold get a bidding war going at our auctions!

Where'd you get it?

I moved from Chicago, right near O'Hare airport

"The Blue Thing" is actually a lime green carpet anemone under my moon linghts, since the anemone is more white than green he glows whatever color he is under, in this case blue.

[welcome]

Hey glad to see you found our club. It's always great to have new members. There's quite a few people in the club around your area.

I don't think anythings been officially posted on when the next meeting will be. Things are pretty slow with the club in the summer months everyone is just too busy with other things.

That carpet anenome you have looks awesome! What other corals do you have in your tank?

Heya,

I'm just north of you in CR and I'm new to the group as well. I hope to attend the next meeting that's held in this area.

I've been going to the EIAA meetings here in Cedar Rapids, they are great people, but there's not much Marine/Reef stuff going on there so I'm really looking forward to being able to learn from some local people who are doing the salty side of things.

most of my coral almost died, but are finally starting to rebound

Frogspawn - 2/4 heads died, the other two are slowly coming back
-Xenia - really taken off since I got my MH
-Star Polyps - came back really strong as well
-galxea - almost all covered in algae, I can see the pollyps deep inside glow under my moon lights, so I know someday it should grow back
-hammer coral slowly coming back
-green mushrooms
-purple/red mushrooms - different variety, not sure the exact species
-colt - my god this thing is huge, may have to cut it back
-fox coral - almost died, slowly coming back
-a few misc zoos

Coral i had that completely died:
-frag calustrea
-frag candy cane
-bubble coral (I really liked this one)
-Gornicopia

Welcome :D

What I am looking for is a group of people, that get together and talk about reefkeeping, do frag swaps, and just all around give and get advice....

Hopefully there is a meeting soon, i need to see how others in this hobby do things!
