New to the clam game, questions

I just purchased my first clam....A crocea, acclimation seemingly went well, but as i've read on some other posts, i have a fire shrimp that is infatuated with it. He doesn't seem to pick at it, just is alway crawling on it. The clam was in full bloom last night, and most of the day today is only partially open. My system is as follows: 29 gallon, 175 mh, 2x20 watt 03, 700 gph pump, 10 gal. miracle mud sump, 500 gph power head, ph: 8.3ish, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite: 0, calcium: 480ish. the clam is positioned about 6-8 inches from bottom in the dead center of the tank...He is attached, so moving him will not be easy.

Any comments or advice??

a bit later in the day he has started to leave the clam alone....the clam seems a little skiddish....any time that anything swims over it is sucks back in it's shell....but it hasn't been totally out all day....it only comes to the tip of the shell...it doesn't fall over the sides and it doesn't open all the way....maybe a new develpment tomorrow...if not, i'll move him closer to the top
