Hello, I'm from the Illinois side of the river with very little experience in the hobby. I've kept freshwater aquariums for a few years, however after a year without a tank I set up my first saltwater aquarium. After cycle it has been running for about 6 months now. I will upload a picture soon. Dealing with some pest algae atm though so it's not as pretty as I'd like.

Welcome to the SLASH forums. If your tank is done cycling then get some clean up crew. some snails, hermits,a couple emerald crabs and theyll clean most of the algae up for you. Depending on the type ofalgae of course.

Welcome! Don't forget some test kits for salinity, calcium, magnesium, alkalinity, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate and ammonia:)

Thanks for the welcome. I currently have the ability to test ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. Thanks to bringing my water to a lfs found out my phosphates crazy high.. gfo and a reactor almost a week ago now and finished a water change yesterday. I've got a handful or hermits, snails and a conch. Planning on getting a diamond goby next week.

I'll have to post a redemption photo once I win the battle of the algae
