New to the hobby

Hey everyone. I just wanted to stop in and and introduce myself. I am very new to the hobby and run a 20 gallon long tank. (starting small) I currently have had it up about a month and have some hermit crabs, 2 turbo snails, 20 pounds of live sand about 15-17 pounds of live rock. I slowly becoming hooked. I want to add a few fish but really not sure what to go with. Also I picked up a 30 inch Corallife max power reef light. I think I might start with Zoos and Mushrooms and see how that goes. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Jason

Welcome aboard. There is a lot of good information here. For a 20G tank, your options for fish are pretty limited - clownfish, damsels (avoid overly agressive varieties like black and white 3-stripe), many gobies to choose from -- here is a link to fish that would work in your aquarium for reference: LiveAquaria - Fish for Smaller Tanks

Get a good protein skimmer even though it costs a lot. Get one that is much bigger than you currently need - you won't regret it and if you decide to move to a bigger tank later, you won't necessarily need to purchase a new one. Mushrooms and zoos are a good way to start off.

Hey Jason, welcome!

I'm still fairly new to this myself, and I can tell you it's very addicting! The people here are great and have helped me a lot. Ask a lot of questions, and you will certainly get the answers you need.

Start posting some pics!

Jason - Welcome. I have a 20gal too, soon to move to a cube, but I have had it for about 3 years and it has really worked for me.

Congrats on your new tank. I have a 20L also and there's quite a few very colorful fish that will work well in a smaller tank. I would really recommend staying away from damsels though, they have anger management issues.
