hello everyone how are we today. i have a few question to ask so please bare with me. i am wondering how long does it take for a frag to have visual impact on your aquaria. i am sure there is a guide line for each family of corals and how long each takes to grow so could someone please help inform me. knowinghow long each takes to grow will help decide witch corals go in first thanks craig

First of all welcome to Reef Central. Can you please post what type of lighting you have. That is what determines which type of corals you can have in your aquarium, or should I say-what type of corals will do good in your tank.

thanks jolene

it also depends on water quality, amount of flow, etc... Assuming you have good water quality, and the right type of lighting with the right lighting cycle most can grow quite fast

well my lighting is 4 t5s 2 atinincs and 2 sun and i also have pcs 2 65 atinic and 1 65 50/50 i will be adding 2 vho as soon as i can find a good place to buy them not sure of the colors yet or even if i should add them but i am in the understnding you can never have to much light can you?

what is the best lighting cycle for a tank. i have a total of 4 attinics and 3 whites(sun) 2 hours of blue 8 of white and blue and back to 2 hours of blue?

I think the best light cycle is the one where the tank is lit when you get home from work and not less than 6 or 8 hrs. As far as visual impact goes there are some corals that grow so fast as to become pests later on. I havent had that problem with xenias yet but im bout ready to get rid of all but a tiny patch of my green star polyps.

well if you want to rid your tank of xina then you can send it to me. i only have a polyps in my tank and i would be willing to house it for ya
