New to the site and hobby.

I think I don't want to buy a small tank first, because in the end i want a larger tank and I don't want to buy a tank than spend more money again paying for a new tank. Any company you know of that make decent tank for a decent price (Reef Ready)?

Check with either of the stores listed above. They can point you in the right direction for the size you are looking for.

Check on the used equipment forum and your local Craigslist. You can get some really good deals if you patient

I've been looking at craigslist found a nice 90 gal tank, stand, and canopy. I love tangs would a 90 gal. tank limit me from having tangs?

Yes, you need five feet if not six feet for tangs. You can put them in smaller tanks but they will outgrow it and not give them enough room to swim. Post the link so we can see the one you are talking about.

It looks okay. Check and see how long it has been without water. I purchased a used tank and the front seal were shot so I had a waterfall in my living room. Its always buyer beware with used equipment.

Just my gut feel its a little expensive for a 90gallon used.

Yea, but im still way ahead of myself as of buying anything and actually setting up anything. Will keep researching hopefully after Thanksgiving I'll have a plan and have something going after New Years.

A corner overflow is an overflow positioned in the corner versus the back panel. Do a google image search for, aquarium "corner overflow" and you'll find plenty of pics

Welcome to the Dark Side!

Welcome to RC, Mr. Exclusive...!

I'm actually around your same age. I'm going on 18 now. I'm in the same boat you are. My parents kept a 40g tank for a while and I loved it. Now I want to start the magic back up again. :)

However, I like small things. Small fish, small tanks... So I'm going with a 30g reef tank. I, unfortunately, don't have the money for anything bigger.

Good for you for doing some extensive research...! Wise choice. I've spent the past three months or so researching and am just now posting conclusion questions that have been left unanswered thus far. I'm just about ready to buy.

Some advice I can offer... Not only does it really pay off to do your homework first, it pays if you do it WELL.

I'd personally advise you to check out water chemistry when you feel ready or decide you want to. I didn't think it was so complex...

Anyway, welcome to RC! Hope you'll stick around for the hobby.
