Hi everybody!

I have been browsing this site for a while, but just finally joined today. My mom has been working on her reef tank for about a year now, and for Christmas she gave me a 55 gallon to set up on my own. She has taught me a lot and I have done quite a bit of research on my own. I plan to begin cycling my tank after a dive trip to Cozumel next month. I really want a reef tank, but my husband loves puffers. I'm in the process of looking into how a Valentini puffer would do with corals. From what I understand it totally depends on the fish's personality. Any thoughts on this? I would also like to have a maroon clown, flame angel, and some sort of blenny or goby. Do these fish sound compatible and in what order should I introduce them to the tank?

This seems like a great site with tons of great infomation and I'm so excited to be a part of it! :bounce2:

first might i say welcome
your right it mainlt depends of the personality of the fish
if you get one buy one as small as you can find and introduce him to the tank last , ive heard that if you establish other fish first and than get the puffer he wont bother them as he gets older but also refer to my fist statement

Thank you for the warm welcomes. I am SOOO excited to get my tank started....but also prepared to be patient.

Can you talk to my wife pleaseeeeeeeeee. LOL j/k welcome and as a newer member myself you won't believe all the help you can find on here. ReefCentral Rocks.

Lolly just wondering where your from in WI. There are a few local reef groups in Wisconsin. Plenty of good people to trade and get good advice from. We don't have very good lfs but we have good people :)

That is going to take you far and kudos to you for it! It's hard at times to remember that nothing good happens in this hobby quickly. Best of luck and ask lots of questions. :)

Thanks again, everyone.

Tekcat: Where can I get patience in a bottle?? I could use that for a LOT more things than just my tank...:)

nursefry: I live in Appleton. Where are you? There is one good lfs I dug up here in appleton. There is also a pretty good one in Fond du Lac, and my parents live Madison where there are a couple more. Any local direction would be greatly appreciated!
Right now I'm trying to find the "cheapest" lfs for things like powerheads, sand, and salt. I'm trying to slowly stock up on those things so that the blow isn't SO bad when it comes time to get it set up and ready to roll.

haha i like the buy it a little at a time approach, thats what ive done so far on my 10 gallon untill now. Most ive had to spend at once had been like 25 bucks. Now im about to have to spend like 75 bucks on bulbs. but im sure it will be worth it.
