I just got started with my coral collection and i want to add a few more things. One thing i want to add is an Anemone for my false clownfish. Is there anything special with anemones hosting clownfish or will anything do? Will certain anemones only host certain clownfish? Whats a good beginner Anemone?
If there are any hints, tips, or anything that could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Well - there's a little more to it than just getting one...

Here is a great website... also - if you can post a little more info about the tank you're planning to put it in - we can help more! How long it's been up and running, lighting, flow... other tank mates... stuff like that...

I have had my 55G tank up and running for just over a year now. I have just recently started on my coral collection but till now, i have only have fish and live rock. My lighting consists of a 48" TEK 6 Bulb T-5 fixture. I have a Tunze 6025 and my main powerhead but other random flows coming out of my hang on filter and my Deltec MCE300 protein skimmer. So far my live stock includes 1 yellow tang, 1 blue hippo tang, 2 false clowns, 2 turbo snails, 1 bubble coral, 1 frogspawn, and 1 open brain.
All my numbers are perfect across the board. At last testing (Mar. 23rd) i had my calcium levels at 420ppm, my KH at 8.2, and my NO2/NO3 ( i think thats how you say it) at <0.3. Everything is doing well.
In the future i hope to add a few more corals like an anemone, Xenia Coral, Torch coral, and a few other flowing corals to give my tank some movement.
I hope that answers more for you and thanks for the website, i'll check that out.

The general consensus is that Bubble Tip Anemones, Entacmaea quadricolor or BTAs, are the easiest to maintain. If your coral are doing well, chances are you'll be ok with a BTA water chemistry wise. The only thing I'd be aware of is that in my experience BTAs tend to move around a bit, at least until they find a spot where they'll settle down. Since they prefer to settle in rock formations, it may come into contact with some of your coral, doing some damage to them. Long Tentacle Anemones, Macrodactyla doreensis or LTAs, tend to dwell in the sand, either in open sand or at the base of some rock. They're about the same difficulty-wise as BTAs and wander less IMO. Unfortunately, neither BTAs or LTAs are natural host anemones for False Percula clowns, that's not to say they won't take to the anemone either immediately or over time, but just something else to keep in mind.

My LFS has a LTA, would this be a good one to start with or should i wait til somthing else comes in.

What about ordering them over the internet? is it safe to order them online or is it too stressful on the anemone?

Both of my anemones were bought locally so I can't really comment on how well they ship.

I didn't find keeping a LTA any more difficult than a BTA, plus they won't split like BTAs are apt to so you won't find yourself with multiple anemones over time.
