New to Zoas

I picked up my 1st three zoa frags about 3 weeks ago. The rastas seem to do well and are always open. Some blue hornets I got only seem to open in the morning or evening and are closed for a large part of the day. Both frags are on the sandbed. What could be causing one to seem fine and the other to be closed?

The reason I ask this is because I had some little flat worms munching on my Zoas ones . A fresh water dip for about 3 minutes did the trick

I usually give my new additions a quick rinse under the faucet before I add them to my DT. I have very good tap water. ;)

Could be the lights are a little strong for it. Could be they are just being picky. I have a frag now that was doing great for a while in the sandbed. I moved it a few inches to the side to attach to a rock, and they closed up and didn't open for a while. I have since tested a few other areas around the tank, including back to where they looked happy before, with little luck. Attached them to another area of rock now and a couple on the frag are starting to open now. Its been almost a month. Corals can be tricky creatures.

I went all out and did a Bayer dip. It's something I've been meaning to try so I figured this was as good of time as any. They seemed to do OK, they started opening up right before lights out so I'll keep an eye on them.

From my experience Rastas love light. Not sure if blue hornets do or not (never had any). If your dip didn't work maybe try a less lit area.

Yeah the rastas havent closed up for a second. The hornets are already at the bottom of my tank, is it ok to move them to a shaded area? They seem to be doing slightly better than before the dip but nothing dramatic. Didn't see anything come off in the sip either.

lol you picked the most temperamental zoas as your first ones. They are the best looking ones though.

How is the water flow ? I usually find the best results when they are on a rock not on the sand bed. These zoos should be fine at any point in the tank but I keep them at mid level with plenty of light and moderate flow.

PS: They seem to do extremely well with high magnesium
