New toadstool! (at least that's what I think it is.)

I just bought this coral from my LFS. They were selling it as "curly toadstool" does this species actually exist? I will post pics when I get the chance.
Anyway my main question is, how do I tell if it's happy? I know leathers sulk a lot when they experience change, but are there any ways to tell if it's going to stay unhappy?
Also what's it came on a rock, I don't have to anything but place t in the tank right?

this is one pic. there are no extended polyps yet.

Give it time. It's common for leathers to stay in when going through changes. It's just getting used to your tank.

okay thanks guys
what do you think would be be other good coral to buy?
should i buy a toadstool as well? or something like zoas or star polyps?

You can't tell for sure until the polyps are fully out but it looks most like a lobopyton but maybe a sinularia. Some sacrophytons do have finger like ridges on them and some have super pronounced thick ruffled edges that look like fingers.

okay now it has tipped over to the front. i had a power head pointed at it maybe thats what did it?
also it seems to be shedding skin and slime, i wouldn't be worried cause all i have read is that is normal, but there are light brown patches on it...
is it okay or is it dying?
at this point its been in for a day and a half

i have one, i moved mine up to the top of the tank for more light and flow. It seems to like that. Mine did take a while to get used to the tank, a month maybe. It does shed often, and some times it closes for a few days. I think it is all normal

Yeah kinda hard to tell. The toadstools I've seen and that I have usually have a longer "stalk". Just leave it. Mine seem to like low to medium flow. Enough to keep the detritus from settling on it. Good luck.

devils hand or finger leather. moderate current and moderate light. it will open up soon enough, possibly even shed some slime for a day or two. dont freak out if you see that it will come around in due time
