New Tunze 6010

I just purchased my Tunze 6010. It continues to make a humming noise. Also, when I disconect the skimmer to clean my sup, and I plug it backup and it does not work until I remove all of the water. Can someone tell me whats going on. I have had this Tunze for only 3 months. Please help. Everyone knows how important your skimmer is. Thanks.

Sorry, it's a DOC skimmer 9010. I was thinking about my Tunze powerhead. Please help. MAM258

It may already be time to clean the pump if the KH or calcium are high. Otherwise I suspect the bush bearing is loose- see the stickied thread on cleaning pumps at the top of the forum.

Thanks for your timely response Rodger. I already cleaned the skimmer. Any thing else I can do? What about when I disconnect the skimmer and re-connect. It will not work when I reconnect until I remove all of the water. Thanks again.

This sounds like a symptom of upper bearing stuck to the magnet rotor or the bush bearing is not fully inserted. Something is causing too much resistance for the pump to start. People often overlook these parts that is why i made the illustrated thread.
