I was browsing the classifieds for some lighting and came across this,
"$265 shipped per fixture. I have 2. BRAND new. Used for less then 5 hrs."
Now that got me thinking. How can something "New" be "Used". I immediately compared this with new and used cars. Which these have a very clear definition. Drive a new sold car off the dealers lot and it now is a used car. But one can argue that the 25 miles this "New" car had on it would make it a "Used" car no matter how these miles were put on the car (test drives, transfers, ect.).
So where does one draw the line on aquarium lighting as being new or used? In this specific case these were LED fixtures which have somewhere near 50K to 100K hour lifespan. I am sure LED fixtures are tested before sent out to retail by the manufacturer for some time, it doesn't for matter how long they are still considered new. Or are they? One might test for 10 seconds and another might test for 10 minutes. Well, just based on usage the 10 second one is "newer" but still used.
Where would you draw the new vs used line when pertaining to LED lighting?
