New way to feed snall colts

I dont know if anyone else has ever tried this but its worked so good for me and my colts love it.

I had 3 2.5" ponies from Draco some of the last to be shipped out. They had a hard time getting enough food once I put them into the 100 gl. SH tank. In QT they had no problem.

First I soak the mysis in enhancers (what ever you choose to use.)in a bowl. Then I took about a 4"x4" piece of wedding viel (also used for corals) I poor food into the center of this then rubber band the ends closed. I place it sort of hitched to a place close to their hitching post.

This is soo cool the will snick and eat and I can see exactly how much each one is getting. They can obsserve and pick exactly the pieces they wish to eat. Very little floats away and when I am ready to put new food in, I simply rinse any left overs in RO/DI water and start over.

Just an idea for those of you who might want and easier feeding "station" only this wont float away and leave the debri like a dish does.

Let me know if it helps any of you.

Thats a good thought on the feeding station, but the above statement worries me. You are not feeding the leftover food to the seahorses, right? Frozen mysis degrades very quickly once thawed, and should only be fed right after thawing. The fats in leftover food or food that has been thawed and refrozen have broken down from long chain fatty acids to short chain fatty acids and are very unhealthy (and possibly dangerous) for your seahorses. Interesting idea with the wedding veil though.

That statement also caught my attention and concerns me for the same reasons Ann stated.

In my opinion this is a very dangerous and unhealthy practice for your horses.

I cant type... I rinse the left over food out. So none is left and the new is put in.

 That's great. Thanks for clearing that up for us.

Heres a pic I took earlier. Hope this gives a better visual. Also the wedding veil is the larger holed. I believe its also called tulle. Correct me if I'm wrong.

seacraze, I honestly dont know how old they are. Some ranged in size of 2" to 4" out of 10 only 3 made it out of QT. I recieved them on Oct. 2nd. I put them in with the larger SH last week. Once the 100 gallon was finished cycling. I also have 58 gallon for my WC Sh.

They do great with the larger SH hitch to their tails and go for a free ride all over the tank. The larger ones are becoming very protective of them.
