New weak Peacock????

I have read all ot these posts about the strength of these creatures and was warned that it will break a glass tank and shatter snail shells but when I got my new peacock Mantis home yesterday it seemed to have trouble with the small snail. It instantly grabbed the snail as if it was hungry but after several strikes it just couldn't break it open. Then it decided to go after the plastic on the end of the filter suction tube. It had no success at breaking that either. Today I started reading more on the shell disease and I think mine has some rust colored spots on its back. Is it possible that I got one with a bad enough case of shell disease that its too weak to crack open a small snail or do you think mine is just weak in general?

Thanks in advance

in my limited experience - the smashing strength between a 2 inch mantis and that a 4 or 5 inch mantis is light years apart. How big is your's (realistically)?

if you live in wisconsin and got that thing from a fish shop on old world 3rd street i hope you didn't pay more than free for that thing, cuz it's in bad shape.

That would be some impressive Mantis you've got Scotia reefer. I haven't come across one that size...mine is nudging 4 inches, a 6 incher would be awesome..

Yea its pretty inmpressive. I was shocked to see it so big when I went to pick it up. I think it was just shy at first because it has no problem busting small snail shells now. Or maybe it just go real hungry
