New zoanthids, how long till they open up?

We just got some new zoanthinds and its been awhile since we have had any and I can't remember how long it normally takes for them to open up after overnight shipping.

Thanks

They should open on the first day, no later than the second and seldom on the third. If so, there's a reason. Tank conditions/parameters greatly dictate how soon expansion transpires along with shipping conditions if indeed they were shipped, and not relying on the 1 or 2 day rule. New arrivals in a new system should be placed low to med, alone/solitary, hit by current to remove any stress related slime/expulsion, and always under actinics only on the first day. It has worked consistently for me for many many years now.

Mucho

BTW, dip you dip them?

I got some tubbs blues shipped overnite and it took them all but 3 weeks to open.I got 3 other kind the same day and they all opened within hours,so I guess it varies. One of the others came in the same box as the tubbs and they also opened within hours. The tubbs was a 3 poly frag,2 are open and the 3rd is still there but not open.

No they weren't dipped but I think I found out why they weren't opening, besides the fact that they were just shipped. I checked the salinity today and some how it was up to 1.030. It is now lowered to 1.026.

I hope it didn't hurt anything in the tank.

I did a dip in tropic marin coral cure today because only a few of the polyps had opened up on one frag. Hopefully it helps. I don't ever remember zoas staying close this long after being fragged.

Just ordered a bunch of stuff from Aquarium Depot(akareef2go). First order from them. Just about 24 hours and only a few polyps here and there. All placed low. 2 Tonga snails made it. 1 scarlet didn't survive the trip, and two other blue claws were supposed to be XL. Ummmm. Would have hated to see the regular size...

Been a week now, Some Radioactive Dragon Eye and Red People Eaters have partially opened, the rest are still closed after a week.

Funny my first ever and only online coral order was Reefs2go. Over 2 years ago. Now I get all my coral from Kush Corals/Chicagoland Aqauriums. They are 10 minutes from me. But anyway Did one of those Reefs2go easy coral packs. Came with the dragon eyes, palys, peach apples zoos a mushroom or 2 and some GSP. The dragon eyes took weeks to open. The peach apples opened within a day and spread almost as fast as the GSP. The Palys melted but. They replaced them and the second round did fine. The shrooms multiplied like crazy too. This was all under an AI prime

Good luck

I have always had many open within two days but I definitely agree that high SG levels could have had a lot to do with it. Hopefully they all come around for you.

flow,,more flow,,,they should open in a day or two..youll be surprised how much flow they really need
