New zoa's in tank not opening

I purchased two rocks with zoa's polyps from Divers Den. The one opened quickly after intro. The other has only a small patch that has opened and the others nothing. Is this normal when introducing zoa's. My parameters are right on and I use a photon 16 led from reefbreeders. I dialed down the intensity from 80 blue 50 white down to 50 blue 35 white for intro as these are pretty intense lights. I placed them on a low rocks for intro. The larger rock that has a variety of different zoa's. This is the one where most are not opening. It's been three days. At intro I floated and then added 1'2 cup water until bag was full and then released..

Yes, at least in my experience. Once, I purchased three zoa frags from the same dealer, same tank. I acclimated them all the same way, and placed them in the same flow and lighting intensity. one too about a week to fully open while the others opened within a few minutes. You mentioned that you added a half cup of water until the bag was full, how often did you add the water? perhaps you could try to move the zoas in question to another location in the aquarium. Zoas tend to prefer lower flow, and may close if there are fish swimming too close.

I had read that zoa's do not need a whole lot of acclimation after putting the bag in the water to get the temp match. I put in a half cup every 5 minutes like I do with most of my corals. With other corals I do it longer..

Im not a zoa expert, though that may have been a little fast. I've always used drip acclimation. Some people say they just put the corals right into the tank, no acclimation and that works just fine. I would try moving them to a different location and see what happens. you could also contact live aquaria, I've ordered from them before and they have incredible customer service.

Acclimation is ok, I think the main problem is the corals came from wild and aren't accustomed to the tank water/lighting. It may take a while for them to open up if they open up. Wild Z & P's don't acclimate very well and tend to be melters. Try using a coral dip and inspect for unwanted hitchhikers, hope all goes well.
