Hi, I've some questions to these zoanthids
last week went to get a ro/di from a lady who was taking down her tank, in the process of this I asked if they were selling the live rock and thery were. Excitedly I bought it all, live sand included.
When I got home is when I noticed about 300 to 500 polyps on almost all the rock.(her lights were off)

How do I care for these?
lfs sold me Corallife invertebrate smorasboard and kent chromaplex
Only about 7 to 9 have opened up in a weeks time the rest are open though no color is visable on tips like the few open ones
I've places the lr about 7-14" deep
Tank from top to bottom is

Hamilton 70" w 3 175mh and two antinics 12" above tank
150 ocenanic reef tank
30gal refigum to wet dry with etss600 skimmer to tusnmi pump 1100gph back to tank
in tank are 2 rio 1200 and a 600 along with two other pumps hooked to a oceam motion wave maker
stock 9 damsels 2 turbo snails with smaller snails also
2 emeral carbs and some blue leg crabs


also two lfs have tested water and its in there word "better than 90% of the water bought to them"

I am not a good typer and this has like this hobby is a slow process any help would be nice

You don't really need to do much to care for them.

Most like high flow, good light (the stalks will get longer if they need more light), and plenty of trace elements that comes from frequent (weekly) water changes.

I have seen a few of my palys grab a piece of mysis, saw my PPE do it yesterday, but they do not need to be fed.

Where in IL? I've lived just about all over the state, tons of reef clubs in the state.

Weekly water changes How much? doing changes every two weeks as mods are done to system to get live filtering system going.(over folwing,too much flow from sump pumps not enough drain)
also just started using Kent ro/di
what is the best temp turned to 78 from 80-2.5

You really should start doing your own water testing. Has your tank cycled? In order to know what is the cause of your zoanthids seeming lack of happiness in your tank we would need to know the basics at least:

Ammonia:
Nitrate:
Alkalinity:
Ph:
Temp:
Salinity:
Lighting:
Flow:

People here are really helpful. Give them some info and they will help you out.

Your close to Rods Reef (www.rods-reef.com). I've heard great things about him. Might be worth it to stop in and pick his brain, he also has plenty of zoa's and can give you better care tips than mine.

Weekly water changes in a tank your size might not be needed so ignore that bit of my previous advice, but they do like light and flow.

Hi,the tank has been up fot about 2 months
yes the master reef test kit is the one I think I'm going for along with the test strips lfs had a price @ 10$ more that of the other fish shop or rods if I can find it

salinity is at 1.024 slowlying on the way to .026-8 with temp now at 78
I tried to describe the tank set up as best I could eailer don't think I'm missing anything
maybe stronger lights?
read that they don't like to be moved how long should I wait to move them up closer to light?
