Thanks MJ........How do I determine the back flow to the sump if I haven't installed the return yet?
I think you have it backwords. or your words one.
The Return is the water from the pump in the sump to the tank.
The drain is the water returning to the tank..
So to determine Where , how big to drill.
First how much turn over rate do you want
40x 10= 400 gph pump
SO you would need to have a over flow box setup to handle a min of 400 gph if that is your target,, Plus say 20% for a safety..
I would on any tank drill two or 3 holes and do a Herbie or bean animal type drain . Herbie would be fine
So
how to do this..
using the above..
Get a over flow box if you have not to handle 600 gps.
Use the Manufacture guidelines to drill the hole locations and size
get a pump at 400 gph..
the 400 gph is only a example...
google herbie over flow and over flow box.. o
If it were my tank... i would do a Herbie coast to coast with 1x4 inch weir inside the tank dumping into a herbie external box ..
like this
