Hello all from the Boomer Sooner household!!!
We have had our 90 gallon set up for 1 year and 1 month now. Boy there has sure been a learning curve for this hobby!!!
We have frequently read through the forums but this is my first posting.
Our tank is 90 gallons with a 40 gallon sump. We bought the tank and stand already set up but have had fun (and some not so fun times) making it our own. I don't know specifics (that is my husband's job) but we currently have metal halides, a protein skimmer, a UV sterilizer, and chiller.
Our fish include: purple tang, yellow tang, sailfail tang, and blue tang (yes they all get along like best friends, got them young and we have no fighting). We also have a clown fish and tomato clown and one goby.
We have two skunk shrimp (which love to be hand fed) and one coral banded shrimp (which never comes out). A mixed variety of snails and two lettuce nudibranches.
We have a variety of corals mostly donated to us by a very generous friend in the hobby. We have a large amount of live rock and several pieces of "dead live rock" that we bought from a guy that lost his house in a fire. The rock had been sitting outside dry for quite some time when we bought it, we cured it and it is some very nice pieces.
We have learned lessons in quarantining new fish (after some heartbreaking losses), water quality, additives and foods.
Unfortunately neither my husband or myself have any self-control when it comes to the tank. We are both hopeless. We are planning on building a new home on 2-3 years. We are hoping to build a dome home and our biggest concern is how to fit a large tank into a round home (yes I know there are round tanks but economically I know that is not possible). I would love to have at least a 200 gallon reef tank at some time. Oh yea, and a 150 gallon fish only tank, and keep the 90 gallon tank we have now. Did I say we were hopeless!!!!!
Anyway - glad to finally introduce ourselves! We love this insane hobby - is there anyone that has cure for this craziness besides getting better, bigger tanks and more fish, coral, and inverts?????
