Newbie in NW Burbs

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself to CMAS as I am a newbie to SW and Reef. I am currently reading and gathering as much knowledge as possible on these forums so that i can eventually start my own saltwater reef tank. This site is amazing! Anyhow, the first thing I would like to do to get started with this hobby is acquire a reef tank and stand. Looking for something in the 125 - 180 gallon size with a stand. Would like to go for used in good condition as i don't have the budget to get new. Can anyone recoomend what I should be looking for in a reef tank for someone that is just starting out? I've been looking on craigslist but there is a lot of different things out there and not quite sure what to look for. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions. Any other links or places to look at also welcome.

Check Petco if they have $1 per gallon tank sale. If you are a handyman make your own stand. There are so many diy info on that. Also consider sump and everflow system. Patience is the best weapon good reefer can have. Goodluck

Thanks for the advice, i'll take a look at Petco but it doesn't seem like they have anything over 75 gallons, at least that is what i see on their website. If anyone has any reef ready tanks over 120gallon for sale, shoot me an email please. Also would like some suggestions on lighting, sumps, skimmers, etc..thanks.
