newbie mushroom questions

I just piced up a few mushrooms. One shroom each of several types. I have no idea what each one is. I also picked up a small frag of star polyps and zoos. They are in a 5g w/ an hob rated 100 gph and 26 watt 6500k compact flo. light. Yes, I already see that I don't like the yellow coloring of the light, but it does fit into the hood. Is there anything I need to feed these guys? How soon should I expect them to start multiplying? The tank has live sand and 50% cured live rock, so cycling shouldn't be a problem. Eventually I want them to cover the rocks they are on. Lastly, they are currently sitting with teh shells they were attached to in little nitches on the rocks. The stars need glued down though. If I use gel glue, do I put glue on the polyps and then stick them directly to the rocks under water?

Thanks for the help!

Your rock should be fully cured before anything live is added. Star polyps can be attached by placing them on a rock and placing a rubberband on them just tight enough to keep them in place they will attach themselves. As far as feeding the shrooms and zoos are photosynthetic they feed from light, I think that star poylps are the same but not sure.

Thanks. I didn't think I needed to actually feed them, but wasn't sure after reading some other posts. The other rock is from storage. There shouldn't be anything there to die, but it doesn't have bacteria colonies, yet. The stars and some of the zoos aren't opening up very well. Is this a normal transition issue?

Thanks for the rubber band suggest. I'll give it a try.

your lighting is a bit too weak for the Zoas and the Star polyps. Also, if the tank hasn't cycled they will stay closed in protest of the poor water quality.

They have all opened up. How much light do you think I should have on the tank? It is probably less than 8" between the top of the water and the sand bed. This concerns me because I just bought a 18w compact 50/50 fixture.
