newbie ? - Status on DC8/AC3

I am using all the default settings right now from the AC3
when i go to the aquacontroller web interface (192.168.1.###) my heater status is on auto, saying "UNK" rather than ON or OFF.

im assuming it means unknown, but i dont have any idea why

any thoughts would greatly be appreciated

As I understand it, the heater status will be UNK until the temp reaches either the low set point or the high set point (on or off condition) because if it hasn't met either of those conditions, its status is unknown. This should only happen when you first boot the AC3/DC8 since once it "cycles" it will "know" its status. HTH

If Temp <78.0 then HET ON
If Temp >80.0 then HET OFF

Like stated above, if you start the AC and the temp is between 78 and 80 its UNK until it has met one of the above requirements.

Jus to make sure im understanding this correctly...

with the program statements you have, say the tank temp is 79.
the heater will be at an UNK status then?
does that mean that it is off though?

so say this is my set parameters:
If Temp <78.0 then HET ON
If Temp >80.0 then HET OFF

once my temp drops below 78 and above 80, the controller should read OFF when the temp is at 79?

Yes, the heater will be off even though the state is unknown. Your understanding of the program statments are correct.
