newbie wants to start a reef tank the right way

I am looking to do a reef tank as peaceful as i can> i am trying to do some research what to put in the tank> i don't want to start with the usual damsel. can i start with green chromis damsel? how is their temperament are they aggressive like the other damsels?
live rock and sand came from a running tank from a friend took some of his stable rock and sand and he put new in his tank. the tank has been running for 2 weeks 125gal 50 gal sump refug with 4 inches of sand and algea and skimmer.
tank is at 78-79 degrees

You don't need to add a damsel. With live rock and live sand, the tank has likely already cycled. Just go slowly and plan your entire population rather than buying and finding ongoing incompatibilities.
