Newbie with quick question.

I've moved mine several times now. The eventual sandstorm that appears clears up pretty quick with some filter floss. I've even had it on the floor for a couple hours while I figured out how I wanted it with no ill effect. I'm sure there was some die off being out of water for a few hours, but it never caused a mini cycle of any kind.

If your tank is going to remain against the wall like that, i'd put a black or blue background on it before your HOB skimmer and all that jazz while it is easy, i really do find a bacground makes everything in the tank "POP"

and check out a Jebao RW8 pump on amazon for your other powerhead, may not even need the little aqueon one either.

Yeah, i grabbed this aqueon one for a quicky, i figured eventually i can always use it to mix salt or something, I have the hob skimmer coming, and i was gonna look into grabbing up two of the jebao powerheads.

I've been looking for backdrop ideas aswell, the guy i got it from had an underwater reef looking picture behind the tank originally, but I didn't really like it. I was considering doing a solid black like you are saying.

good to know I can freely move rock around, I might work on it a little then over the next few days.

With the Jebao 2 opposing RW8 will work nicely, you will want to turn them down i bet...they are surprisingly strong, I have 2 of them in my 150g and if they arent opposing they are rearranging my sand

I hope your clownfish aren't as big of buttheads like mine. When I move my rock around or mess in the tank for any reason my bigger clownfish likes to attack me. It has startled me before and have dropped rock before (not good). So, be careful!

yeah i Havn't tried yet so we will see what happens.

what I have noticed is, the smallest of the 3 clowns hes just a little deep dark red guy, but he seems to like to just sit on the sand or rock and wiggle, he seems to struggle to get very high and when he does, he sinks again like a rock, he actually has a little rough mark on his underside from being in the rocks, is this something I should keep a close eye on?

I remember he used to be a little more mobile before the move.

lol, yeah the big guy is a total grump. He lunges at me whenever I stick my hand in there. Glad you warned me otherwise it might have got me off guard too.

I moved all my rocks today, added the bh-1000 skimmer, cleaned off the old filter, got a ehiem jager heater and a refractometer now, so things are a little easier.

i also grabbed one of those ammonia badges.
