Congrats on the tank..

How did you cycle the tank?
Have you tested for ammonia/nitrites/nitrates yet?

Was it a sand sifting starfish? Good luck keeping one alive in such a small tank.. Sounds like your LFS will sell you anything so make sure you do some research/learning first to make sure its the right decision..

I bought water from LFS to put on my tank . No i have't i will test this comming saturday to check the parameters . Yes it's sand sifting starfish .. hmmm i guess so but i always tried to ask many LFS in my area it's kinda hard since they can't speak english . Well thanks to you !

Buying water from the lfs will not cycle a tank.

Liverock needs to establish a biofilter. The nitrogen cycle needs to process which can take anywhere from 10days to 6weeks plus.

The only way to know if the tank has cycled is by testing ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

Ammonia must rise, fall and process into nitrite, then nitrite does the same. Until both ammonia and nitrite are have risen and processed to 0, the tank is not cycled.

No livestock should have been added until the cycle is complete. That's why a clown died.

Hello. My name is Joshua and I am in charge of designing my school's reef tank which is a Biocube 32 LED. I am new to this hobby as well. I just have a couple of questions: do the corals need any support from the glass or can I leave them in the middle of the tank? Also does the refufium need to be added?

It's depends on the coral. Stony corals might need some support but I would not use the glass. The back wall maybe, since you have an all in one and the back wall is plastic. Are you talking Refugium? Do not need one. Of course it helps cause you grow macro algae in there and not in your display. Just keep up on water changes and monitor your parameters.

A religion is optional not a must. It helps out but it's best when it's 20% of the total water volume of the system.
