Hello all! I've been looking in on this forum for a while and finally made the steps to start posting.

These are the details of what I have currently:

55gl Reef Tank, Born 2/1/06
Filtration: 40lbs Tonga Branch Rock, Turboflotor 1000 Skimmer, 9W turbo twist uv sterilizer, 75gl Wet/Dry, 2 Maxi-Jet 600 pwrhds
Lighting: 2-65 watt Actinic, 2-65 watt 10,000Kâ"žÂ¢, 4 lunars, 260 watts total
Livestock: 2 maroon clowns, 1 Sailfin Tang, 1 Hippo Tang, 1 cleaner shrimp, 20 or so blue leg hemits, 2 red leg hermits, 2 emerald crabs, 1 horse shoe crab, 20 or so various mushrooms, 1 Moon coral, 1 Frog Spawn, 1 Cup Coral, 1 Sun Coral

How is the horse shoe crab working out for you? I've heard that they need a lot of sand bottom to really thrive.

I have had good luck with it so far, it stirs the sand bed up a fair bit. I have a good bit of open sand bed the way I've rock scaped it.
It's molted once since I've had it (3 months or so). I can see there will come a day when I will have to send it to a bigger home though.
Also have to be careful as it can move stuff around as it moves under the sand. Mine is about the size of a half dollor coin.
Fiance loves it, I could live w/o it.

THOSE WORMS!!! What kind are they?? We moved a tank about 6 months ago and there were dozens in it, and some were over 2 FEET long and 2" thick! The owners thought they were fire coral worms (or w/e they are called) but they were everywhere and touched accidently twice with no burning. So then we didn't think that's what they were. Do you know what kind they are?? Ickers!!! (But SOO good for the tank )! They look the same as you have!


I also love the sun coral. I want one So perty!

I have Ichthy Things to thank for that great Sun Coral. I went up there for the first time a couple weeks back. I live in south St. Pete so it's tough to get up there while it's open. Great Store!

I think this is the same guy. We had MANY of them, and I know where 1 lives now about that size. I don't want to kill him, but I'm gonna GET him so I can check him out and let me students look at him too. Think this is the same kind?

Yes Ichthy has some great things I've heard. Hopefully I'll get down there soon.

Bristle worms. Most say keep them as they are good for the tank.

I love their cute little bristles (you should SEE them under the microscope ... SCARY as HE!!).

those are fireworms and they are good for your tank they eat all your leftover food and detritus wich help keep nitrates and amonia down , I wouldnt take them out , i never have and have never noticed any damaging effects from them

I see tons of them crawling around my tank when the lights go out and the moon lights come on...never seen anything that would be a problem with them

Its kind of fun to play jokes on those who don't know what they are. They do hurt if you get a handful of them. Those two footers could probably do some damage. Thjose bristleworms are the ones that bore holes through the rocks. Other than that, they are pretty much harmless... unless you move your rock around a lot. If you like holes through the rocks, keep em.
