Yes, more gigantea for my tank. :)
Spotted this beautiful and healthy gig at my lfs this evening. At first I asked the guy if he knows what kind of anemone it is, he said he has no idea. Then he looked at the maxi carpet and said maybe it's a maxi carpet and came in a couple days ago. Lol. I knew exactly what it is after seeing the purple veracue on the underside. I said to hold it for me while I browse the store. I looked at it for awhile. Seems to be the most healthy gigantea I've seen in a lfs. No sign of even the slightest of bleaching. Mouth shut tight and tentacles is respectably long for its size. I knew right away I have to bring it home. Walked around the store for a good hour just to see if the anemone deflate or not. This is the first time I say this about newly added gigantea but I believe this is a very strong anemone. And I have very high confident that it will thrive in the tank. I hope it does well.
I think it the oral disk is purple. And the tentacles will cream colored. Still too small to say for sure.

Incredible! Very nice find and I'm guessing you got it for a good price, considering they thought it was a maxi mini...

As if your clowns don't already have a tough enough time deciding which host they prefer:spin2:

Nick how are you going to acclimate it to your lights? Will you give it 100% immediately or ramp up over a few days?

Congrats on your find.

Thanks! I always act like I don't know anything when I'm at the lfs. It allows me to test how knowledgeable and how honest they are. And sometime, I win on the price. :)

Thanks Rodney,
There's no way I can dim down my LED at the moment if I want to. Even if I could I would leave it alone. My LED is not that strong. I think total wattage is <90W from 36 Cree LEDs. Elos has been reluctant to ship me more lights and dimmable drivers or give me the specs of my current light so I can make it dimmable myself . I'm not sure if they don't have the supply to meet the demand or there's something wrong with their process.
So this reason, I've ordered a Pacific Sun Black Pythom XM. This should allow me to dim and simulate the sun a little better. I hope to get it in a couple of weeks.

Keep us updated im very reluctant adding any new anemone to well established anemones due to any type of bacteria or pathogen introduction (which im a proponent of).

I do not have a proper QT system. I'm afraid if I QT this thing the way I have right now, it will make the anemone decline its health.
I'm taking a chance here but it's based on my best judgement of the anemone's health. If there's any sign of deflation or bleaching, I would've left it at the lfs.

Well best of luck. Once i get a tank setup im going to be testing some new antibiotics on newly aquired anemones.

when i saw this post thread..and saw it was by you..
i knew i would be jealous!

awsome find, hope it does great in your system, im sure you'll keep us updated on it :)

Hey Tony,
Please document your findng. There's no known QT procedure which will facilitate gigantea acclimation. I'm curious to see what will help these beautiful creatures survive the introduction of our tank.
