Bookmans is a great place to have it, if the room can support 25 people. Plus, there may be rules against selling / auctions. It can be investigated I'm sure.
I wanted to comment on the sale / auction that took place Sunday. I liked the fixed price selling and thought we should continue doing this in the future. People can browse and buy before the auction. Cash should be paid at time of sale.
Then, if the seller has leftover corals that did not sell in the fixed price sale, they will have another chance to sell the coral by lowering the price and auctioning them off.
What I did not like was the way money exchanged hands. It was too confusing. Paying after each sale takes too long and requires one to have the exact amount. Furthermore, I bought a lot of stuff, and while I am pretty sure I paid everyone what I owed, I prefer not having to worry as someone tallies all the salesin a computer. I would even volunteer to take turns running the computer. The Janurary auction went smooth because the computer program was used to tally all the funds. Then people who owed paid up. Those who earned recieved thier payment. It was simple, saved time, and was accurate. I would vote to do it this way for future events.
John, I agree with the "club" idea. I do not oppose being a member of a club, but what we have going on is hardly organized into a club structure. I have been VP of a club when attending ASU, but do not wish to lead one again. I like what we have going on.
