I plan on building a custom size tank from either 1/2" glass or maybe 5/8", what dimensions do you suggest? and tank volume, do i want a tall or long, or wide?

Save yourself time, money and hastle, and just get a standard 10 or 15 gallon tank (personally I prefer the 15 gallon). If the animal will comfortably fit into a 10 gallon tank then it probably doesn't have the strength to break the glass.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are worried about your new little buddy making a shattering escape attempt. Rest assured that your fears are common, reasonable, and over blown. People have caught on to the "as powerful as a .22" when refering to their smashing ability, but that is limited to the largest specimines, of the largest species. The N.wennera that TBS carries, baring a defect in the tank, shouldn't be able to do any damage to the tank. Mine would beat the tar out of the tank to no avail, and I keep larger specimines in similar tanks.

If your still a little worried then find yourself a standard acrylic tank.

you read my mind, that is truly all i'm worried about, ill stick with a standard 15g then, for the N.wennera i'll be getting.
