My Tang has got either Ich, Or Velvet. I have QTed him to a 12 gallon container with a filter, heater, some PVC pipe and some sponges from my sump in the filter.
I just read that FW bath does not relieve Ich, only Velvet... is this true? Reason I ask is that I have treated the Qt with Chelate Copper Sulfate (Mardel Copprsafe) and yeater day did a FW bath and he was swimming around after that... After the light went off (Small 13 watt CFL daylight) he went and found his spot and rested. I checked on him this morning, he is in the same spot, hasnt moved... but fins and tail are moving.
I have not seen him eat since this has gotten worse, so Garlic xtract is my next step. I need reccommendations on a good product to soak his nori in... also, si there anything else he might eat... since he is not in the DT, there is no algae for him to pick at. I would like suggestions there too.
Next step is to move to a more permenant QT. I have the following fish:
Kole Tang, Coral Beauty, Yellow Wrasse, Neon Dottyback, Ocs. Clown and 4 BG chromis. I have and LFS that has used 29 gallons for cheap and I am hoping that this is enough for this Bio load. I will be picking up more different sized PVC for more hiding spots.
Next is to get the rest of the fish out of the DT. I plan to do this, hopefully by tricking them into feeding as when I approach the tank, they all swarm up for food. Any stragglers will be caught with a home made fish trap... I'm praying this does not take a month to get them out.
Next is medicate tank with copper, or cuprumine.. (any suggestions) for at least 4 weeks, the observe for an additional 4-5 weeks. Leaving the DT fallow for about 10 weeks.
Are there any things I am missing.... Like, should I raise the temp of the DT (right now between 78.5-80.5) Also.... An LFS has reccommended a product called Fish Keeper... Any experiance with this? Any suggestions?
Thanks.... ig time learning experiance here.
