My cube of the ocean is 5 months old and I thought it is time to share.

This is my first reef aquarium, but I read and planned a lot before I started buying anything. I want the aquarium to look as simple as possible. I want it to look like a 2' cube was taken out of the ocean and set on the counter top. I also want the aquarium to fit in the room. I want the aquarium to add to the room and not be obtrusive.

I have a lot of theories and not a lot of practice. I plan on using this thread to brag and ask for help. I've been around RC for over 10 years now. It's an awesome resource to have.

Nice set up for sure. I have a 60 cube. You may want to borrow a par meter. That fixture looks a bit small...

It's a Radion XR15w Pro and I run it at 55% max. I love the way it looks. I would love to find a par meter and check it. I'll ask my LFS.

Please speak up if anyone reading this has checked theirs.

Here's some updates!

I've added a flame angel (his name is Waka Flaka Flame) and a clam. My corals were looking more and more "bla" so I imported a schedule that my LFS is using with good results and my corals have colored up a bit. I'm increasing the intensity 5% per week until I see a negative result. Kaman8 runs his Radions at 100% and his corals look amazing, so I'm going to slowly increase the intensity until I see a negative result.

I love the green spot in my Montipora Cap. I hope more spots show up as it grows.

My coral growth has been slow and for some reason I'm not seeing any polyp extension. Let me know if yall have any ideas why or if low PE is a bad thing.

Very nice start to your tank. I really like the aquascape and the open sand look in front of the rock. I was wondering how your flame angel is behaving. He could possibly be the reason for lack of polyp extension. I had one in my frag tank and didn't have any PE, and I never saw him nip at anything. As soon as I got rid of my flame, the PE returned.

Thank you cFloor. I read a lot about aquascaping before I put the tank together. I want my tank and tank room to be pretty.

I put all my fish in a QT tank for 6 weeks for what I'm guessing was flukes. I didn't really feed the tank much during this time and I assumed a lack of food in the water column caused the lack of PE, but I haven't had good PE since I returned the fish to the display tank. It could have been lack of food and now it's the flame. I've never seen him nip, but I'll watch him. His movement and color add a lot to the display. I would hate to remove him.

Well, good luck and I hope you can solve the problem and let's hope it's not the flame. I have angels in my tank as well, so I know how you feel.

That is quite a low setting. You may want to look at bringing it up slowly over time.

Yea, I've changed up my schedule and I'm increasing the intensity 5% per week until I see a negative impact.

Take your time and you will be fine. I run a hydra52 at 95% over the same tank and do not have issues. Make sure to keep up with the feedings as you increase the light.
