Niger trigger will not stop jumping out of tank.

i did block it with a netting and then his front spike fin thing got stuck in the net and was halfway out of the water.

yea he is in an egg crate container i use to acclimate new fish to lessen aggression. im getting some of that 1/4 inch clear mesh from BRS later this week

Triggers got to be the toughest fish around. Got a small Blue Throat that survived being drug into an anemone twice by a large female Maroon clownfish. Would of speared that Maroon at the time but she knew I was ticked and avoided me well.
Needless to say the anemone had to go and luckily a friend took it. The trigger had some major stings but was eating that night. Doesn't surprise me they can live without water for a while.

Wow what a trooper, that fish is determined to get out, hopefully you can figure out what's chasing it or causing it to jump, have a go pro to set up and watch the behavior prior to the jump ?

Nothing is attacking it. It jumped once this morning and I watch it before and during the jumping. He is swimming into the full force of the gyre then swimming straight up and shooting out of that corner. Not sure why it's doing this

Already saw it prior to the jump

Is the fish possibly seeing something outside the tank in that area which could be perceived as food? Maybe a shadow or spider?

I don't think so.. there is a white string hanging near the water level near the area he is jumping out. It's possible but I just don't know
