Niger Trigger with deteriorating fins

I've got a 4" Niger Trigger with fins that are severely wasting away. Its in a 125 gal. bare bottom FO tank with no liverock.

Could this be a parasite infestation?

This fish seems to be suseptible to external parasites. When I first bought the fish about 15 months ago it immediately got a flatworm infestation that I was able to solve with Anthony Calfo's (and others) help. See the thread: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1219438

The other fish in the tank show no signs of problems whatsoever. (They include a picasso trigger, a yellow tang and a paddlefin wrasse). All have been in the same tank for over a year. The niger eats well and acts normally....its just that its fins are wasting away to nothing.

The tank will be easy to treat because of no inverts or liverock. let me know what you recommend.

I think generally a bacterial problem. Are his eyes cloudy? Generally treated with aniti-biotics from the fish store.

I used Jungle brand Anti Fungas tank Buddies from wal-mart for that and they worked great, the fish's fin are almost completly healed

My niger I just brought home a few days ago has that. When I treat him do I need to put him in a QT. should I lower salinity and what is this disorder called?

Sorry...I haven't check this thread for a while.

I bought the fish in Sep. of 2007. So I've had it for about a year and 3 months.

Maybe damage to fin were caused by other tankmates and Niger is haveing infections. As I have posted on other simialr threads, I had great success by smearing Bacitracin Oinment to infected fins (make sure not on gill) in Q/T or floating breeding trap. Don't laugh!! this method has worked for me in F/W and S/W for many many yrs.
just simple smear on daily basis. any excess will just fall off since oil and water don't mix well. This method yielded better and faster results than remedies on the market.
