night thing??

Hi...last night I saw this black or deep purple slug type creature...when I put the flashlight on it, it started moving away..it was about 2 or 3 inches long but fat, not flat. It wasnt a nutabronk(sp)when it moved, from its front, it looked like thick stringy feelers were coming out. It had some copods on it also(got out the magnify glass) Ant thoughts..no way could I get a pic of it...I may try to find it again, to get a shot of it...thanks for any help
